Roald Dahl’s Imaginormous Challenge Celebrates Pure Imagination

Roald Dahl’s Imaginormous Challenge has returned once again – and that means Willy Wonka’s search for Golden Ticket winners is back on!

Roald Dahl’s creativity was endless. His stories often started small, as tiny ideas scribbled in his ‘ideas books’ – these would then be transformed into the excellent and enormous stories of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Witches, and more!

To celebrate that the smallest of ideas can become the most magnificent of wonders – the Imaginormous Challenge invites children across America to use their imaginations and create story ideas that could become spectacular creations. The five most imaginative story ideas will be chosen by Willy Wonka himself and awarded a one-in-a-lifetime prize experience.

Have you ever wondered what a story idea could look like if it was transformed into a theatrical creation, an immersive Minecraft world, a published e-book, a new toy design – or even an ice cream delight? Five very lucky Golden Ticket winners will get to find out with our once-in-a-lifetime prizes! Each winner will work with our expert partners to have their ideas Wonka-fied and see their dreams come true.

What if a story idea became…

… a theatrical creation?

The team behind Broadway musical Roald Dahl’d Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will turn one winning story idea into a show-stopping, toe-tapping theatrical creation!

… an immersive Minecraft world?

Working with Minecraft: Education Edition, a team of Minecraft builders will transform one winning story idea into a playable Minecraft experience for the winner.

… a published e-book?

Bestselling authors Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver will help one lucky winner develop their story idea into a short, published e-book.

… a new toy design?

One winner and their parent or guardian will travel to Hollywood, California and have a workshop there with the Warner Bros. team, brainstorming tremendous toy ideas.

… an ice cream delight?

One lucky winner will follow in Wonka’s footsteps – with the help of Ample Hills Creamery, their story idea will be transformed into a magical, edible creation!

All entrants need to do is submit their story ideas in one hundred words or less at before midnight on December 20th, 2019.

The competition is open to all children aged 5 – 12 across the USA, and children from all backgrounds are encouraged to enter. Entries will not be judged for grammar or spelling – the only judging criterion is pure imagination! Over the years we have seen some fantastically creative entries – we can’t wait to see what brilliant story ideas are dreamt up this year. And if you’re not sure where to start, there’s inspiration, tips and ideas galore over on the Imaginormous website.

So what are you waiting for? No idea is too big, so don’t imagine small… Imaginormous!
