About the Book

"Simply delicious." —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

Babies are always hungry! Forest Xiao’s playful board book celebrates the lovable nom-nom monsters among us.

Some things are yummy, like a banana or a juicy watermelon. When you’re a baby, other things are yummy, too, like a leaf. Or your own foot. And watch out, little friend sitting nearby! These delightful babies will captivate their audience in a board book sure to cause giggling all around.

Reviews

With its repetitive “…is yummy” refrain, petite trim size, and small handful of simple words per page, the book is ideal for lap-sit audiences. Adults in the caregiving trenches will relate to the absurdity of babies savoring odd objects, whether trying desperately to munch a goldfish or going to town on a delicious tabletop. Roomy gouache portraits of captivating cartoon-style babies glorying in gobbling on just about everything are perfect encapsulations of this occasionally chaotic stage.
—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

Aided by shape-based, thin-lined drawings, this winking presentation aptly evokes the hunger with which the youngest children discover their world.
