Since 1922, the Newbery Medal has been awarded each year to the author of the most notable American children’s book. Past winners include familiar titles such as The Twenty-One Balloons, Holes, and Last Stop on Market Street, as well as a number of lesser-known books worth exploring. From fiction to fact-based books, poetry to picture books, these are some of our favorite Newbery award winners and honor titles.
